The goal of Ennis CARES is to promote the well-being of our community through collaboration with local programs and organizations and by bridging the gap of needs not currently being met. We are passionate about serving our community and serving it well. Some of the services we provide include the following:

  • Case management for community members experiencing homelessness.*

  • Errands for homebound community members, specifically the delivery of groceries or prescriptions when other options are not available.

  • Extreme weather center: The center is opened as needed when consecutive days of extreme temperatures are in the forecast. This includes triple digit heat in the summer and freezing cold in the winter. Follow our Facebook page for updates on times and location.

  • Financial assistance for rent, utilities, prescriptions, etc. Note that financial assistance is based on donations.

  • Resource hub: If we cannot meet a need, we work to connect community members to partnering agencies that may be able to provide clothing, food, financial assistance, transportation, mental health resources, and more.

  • Shower outreach: Absolutely anyone that needs a place to shower can stop by on Mondays and Thursdays from 8am-10am at 206 S Dallas St. Towels and toiletries are available.

*Homelessness is a complex situation to work through. There is not a one-size-fits-all solution because every family and individual is unique with their own distinct circumstances. Unfortunately, there is no emergency overnight shelter in Ellis County at this time. While we are not able to provide overnight shelter, Ennis CARES is able to walk along-side Ennis community members that are experiencing homelessness by providing essential services and helping to create personalized plans to assist in exiting homelessness.

Services may include providing:

  • and MORE!
